This position is located in the Immediate Office of the Assistant Secretary , Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA). The SCA Bureau contributes a great deal of paperwork to the seventh-floor Principals. The SCA Front Office (F/O) is the focal point of coordinating the paper flow to and from the seventh floor.
Duties
Serves as a central point of contact and liaison with the Front Office Principals in SCA , and with the principals in other agencies, to keep abreast of issues and concerns that may impact issues affecting SCA.
Prepares written reports utilizing information management systems/databases to retrieve requested data and compiles narrative and statistical material concerning the status of actions for use by senior level officials .
Responsible for coordinating, arranging for the clearance of, revising and transmitting documents (position papers) related to South and Central Asia flowing between the Bureau and the Department’s Principals and the Executive Secretariat.
Acts as primary advisor and technical expert on administrative functions and keeps abreast of new policies, procedures, regulations, directives, etc., which impact the efficiency of SCA/FO operations.
At the GS-12, the incumbent performs essentially the same duties as outlined above; however, the scope and complexity of assignments are of less responsibility and independence and receive closer supervision than at the GS-13 level.

Qualifications

Applicants applying at the GS-12 level:
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing advice on various administrative policies, procedures, and requirements.
Experience preparing reports and delivering briefings to senior officials on findings and recommendations.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
Applicants applying at the GS-13 level:
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing advice on various administrative policies, procedures, and requirements.
Experience preparing reports and delivering briefings to senior officials on findings and recommendations.
Experience developing plans, goals, and objectives for long-range implementation and administration of a program.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
