The primary purpose of this position is: to provide technical and managerial support in logistics programs and mobility planning, management of SOG resources for assigned personnel and weapon systems, personnel utilization and assignment, manpower authorizations, Status of Resources and Training reporting, and to assist in position control, and small computer management.

Duties

Provides direction, development and maintenance of the SOGs deployment program. Coordinates with wing and squadron mobility/deployment officers and reviews taskings to plan for most effective time-phased deployment of personnel and equipment consistent with mission accomplishment and current directives. Plans, administers, and monitors manpower authorizations and personnel resource requirements for assigned SOG personnel. Maintains accurate records of manpower authorizations and personnel assignments/utilization. Trains Reservists assigned to Programs and Mobility section. Develops and maintains a training schedule for Reservists in order to maximize their skills. Represents SOG on teams, panels, committees, working groups, or in discussions and meetings. As SOG Control Center representative for Crisis Action Team and mobility centers, carries out SOG's instructions and taskings within established time limits. Manages the logistics aspects of the mobility program for assigned personnel & weapon systems and assists with management of overall program. Assists with management of the small computer program for the SOG. Coordinates and manages the use of computer equipment assigned to the SOG.

  • The employee will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions. Logistics Management Series, 346. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes detailed working knowledge in the areas of organization, management, manpower, and other related areas. Thorough knowledge of special operations group organizational principles, policies, and concepts. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of program related issues and problems. Knowledge and skill in operating a desktop computer to maintain an accurate data base and prepare reports and briefing materials. Knowledge and ability to compile and analyze data concerning UTA/AT/man-day funds, travel expenses, security, offshore deployments, manning status, and other pertinent management data. OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of logistics plans for mobility, deployment, contingency and related readiness programs. Knowledge of logistics principles, practices, policies and data systems in order to analyze, validates and coordinates the requirements of the functional areas. Knowledge of and skill in applying conventional methods to gather, analyze, and evaluate factual information concerning the effectiveness and efficiency of logistics processes. Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies which affect group programs and related support resources. Skill in interpreting and analyzing information to evaluate overall program status and effectiveness. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain good working relationships. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
