Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, Presidential Protective Division will allow you to provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to Security Specialists responsible for security screening operations at the Worker and Visitor Entrance System (WAVES) Center for the White House Complex. Duties
The selectee will serve as a Lead Physical Security Specialist (Access Control) in the Office of Protective Operations, Presidential Protective Division. Typical work assignments include:
Processing requests by conducting online background investigations, including accessing various personnel security databases, such as Worker and Visitor Entrance System (WAVES), Washington Area Law Enforcement System (WALES), National Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (NLETS), National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Treasury Enforcement Communications System (TECS), Fingerprint Identification Records System (FIRS), etc.
Contacting pass holders to resolve incomplete or conflicting data submitted on clearance requests forms based on judgment and experience.
Evaluating the nature and degree of derogatory information by comparing the information received to office policy.
Leading a team of specialists; integrating team goals, strategies, and objectives with the organizational mission.
Identifying program and policy issues, time frames for project completions, training needs, and priorities.
Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below
You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $99,200.00) if you possess one f ull year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Applying knowledge of security administration practices, methods, and/or policies to carry out background investigation activities;
Providing guidance to other staff members to contribute to the attainment of team objectives; and
Analyzing investigative data to provide recommendations and/or reports regarding security or access authorizations.

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted).

Incumbent works in the WAVES center offices and other Secret Service Facilities. Work may require shift assignments, to include weekends and overtime. Precautions must be exercised when lifting heavy equipment. Travel may be required in support of protective details.
