This position is located within the National Institutes of Health, NINDS, Division of lntramural Research, Human Physiology and Stroke Neurorehabilitation Section (HPSNS).

Duties

Independently assess acute and non-acute clinical problems in a clinical research setting. Analyze and document trends in patient conditions and assists in the development of a patient management plan in response to the data obtained. Independently perform invasive procedures and evaluate and interpret findings. Independently providing comprehensive patient management services such as writing orders, ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies, referring patients, and documenting patient progress through in-depth progress notes and summaries. Assist in designing and implementing specific protocols and manages selected populations. Present patient cases and topics for patient care conferences in order to improve patient and research processes and outcomes.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for an Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner), GS-0610-13 position you must have: Education Requirements A. Completed a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. OR B. Completed a Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure Requirement You must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). AND You must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position. In addition, in order to qualify for the Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner), GS-0610-13 position you must have: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing comprehensive nursing care in a clinical or research setting; independently providing patient and family counseling and health education to complex patient populations; independently assessing acute and non-acute clinical problems; and collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams to ensure that patient management strategies are successful in meeting patient care and research needs.
