You will serve as a Supervisory Instructional Systems Specialist in the within the School of Infantry-West (SOI-W), Training and Education Command (TECOM) of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.

Duties

You will supervise, plan and develop course planning (e.g., design development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum) to provide technical advice for the proper execution of curriculum techniques and methods. You will lead multiple project teams assigned with planning and directing front end analyses efforts to ensure program development and provide oversight. You will evaluate instructional information (e.g., effectiveness data, current or future performance requirements, feasibility, costs) to provide recommended changes to curricula or delivery methods. You will review curricular materials for technical accuracy, consistency with course objectives, educational effectiveness, or program policy. You will analyze student course evaluations for indicators of needed improvement to instructional methods or content.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:Applying and developing criteria or requirements for testing and evaluating new approaches and concepts for education or training programs; overseeing the development of standardized testing design/development efforts; and measuring and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of experimental or extremely complex instructional programs. My experience demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess - Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled. The course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas:
  1. Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material.
  2. Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness.
  3. Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments.
  4. Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training.
  5. Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software.
