This position is located at Departmental Offices, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy. As an Economist, you will provide analytical, research, and forecasting support to senior Treasury officials concerning current and future developments in the U.S. economy.

Duties

As an Economist, you will:- - Lead analyses of current macroeconomic indicators, develops models to explain the significance of recent developments on the U.S. economy, and communicates analysis to senior principals clearly and concisely, either orally or through written means. - Build economic models and leads analyses of direct and indirect effects of proposed policy changes or economic developments on the U.S. economy. - Collaborate with analysts in other Treasury departmental offices and federal agencies to develop and assess the potential impact of changing economic conditions on the U.S. government budget. - Represent the Office of Macroeconomic Analysis (MA) in interagency working groups and supports principals' meetings with other federal agencies, international organizations, and/or private sector entities.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes ALL of the following: - Analyzing current macroeconomic indicators and developing models to explain the significance of recent developments on the U.S. economy; AND - Communicating the impacts of macroeconomic developments to a varied audience--including senior officials--through briefings, memoranda, or other means; AND - Collaborating with senior analysts to develop economic models and assess the potential impact of changing macroeconomic conditions and/or proposed policy changes on the U.S. economy. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resumé.

Education

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.

Basic Education Requirement:

A. Degree:
economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience:
courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
