This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for consultant to management in support of the JDAT IT applications software development, implementation issues, policy and plans.
Duties
This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated October 15, 2021.
As a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSANALYSIS/PLCYPLN) at the GS-2210-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Develops comprehensive long and short range system plans and support projects.
Determines overall functional and systems requirements and specifications as well as overall technical feasibility and economic viability of proposed projects.
Specifies milestones, appropriate data formats, systems interface plans, detailed system layouts, and test plans.
Continually assesses policy needs and interprets broad DoD, Joint Staff, Services and other guidance and applies it through development of policies for the area of responsibility.
Consults and coordinates with project staff from other organizations and agencies in developing, revising, interpreting, and modifying policies to ensure application of local activities meet project needs.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS 12 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the 11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Conducts in-depth systems analyses of existing systems and systems components to determine comprehensive organizational business requirements and opportunities for new and/or enhanced information technology.
Applies methodologies of security, reliability, and utilization of systems and networks already in existence in the organization to determine if organizational needs can be met by enhancing existing assets or if replacement is more cost effective. Understands computer networking concepts and protocols, and networking security methodologies.
Oversees the implementation of programming specifications through monitoring of progress throughout all phases of acquisition and implementation. Prepares detailed reports and briefings which include findings and recommendations for correction of deficiencies.
Comprehensive knowledge of methods, techniques, and processes for the integration and optimization of system components, infrastructure requirements, database management features, and test and evaluation methods sufficient to provide technical guidance to other specialists performing these activities.
