About the Position: This position is with the United States Army Reserve Command, Support Group Special Troop Battalion, Security Guard Office located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Duties
Control personnel access by monitoring the identification and authorization of individuals and vehicles entering sensitive and restricted controlled areas.
Coordinate with other agencies outside to conduct investigations and emergency responses.
Obtain required personal information needed to issue daily passes to visitors.
Protect critical property, documents, information, materials and equipment that impact the national defense.
Conduct foot or vehicle patrol of perimeters, roadways, parking and other high traffic areas as well as interior of shops, storage administrative and other structures.
Maintain vigilance against acts of terrorism, sabotage, espionage, theft, violence, and infractions of rules.
Prepare reports associated with crime scenes, domestic disturbances, traffic accidents, violations and citation issuances.
Perform security-oriented work that involve pedestrian stops at the Access Control Points and Entry Control Points for safety and security checks.
Detaining violators as conditions warrant.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires incumbent to be able to lift 70 pounds.
- The duties of this position may require the incumbent to be on call on a 24-hour basis, work evenings, nights, holidays, and/or weekends to include modification in shifts and/or tour of duty.
- This position requires incumbent to possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain current required certifications and skill proficiency with assigned weapon.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain current required certifications and skill proficiency with CPR and first aid.
- This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to qualify for the Individual Reliability Program.
- This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and are required to wear chemical protection equipment.
- This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent must pass the primary Physical Ability Test (PAT) within 30 days of the hiring date and must pass the PAT annually thereafter.
- This position requires annual medical physicals.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: working with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards such as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; and/or maintaining order and protecting life; Interpreting and abiding by established rules, procedures, and methods of operating in order to perform the full range of guard activities; Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques, which may include automated information systems to enter data and to prepare reports and/or traffic citations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
