About the Position: Serves as a Guard Supervisor for the Security Guard force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations to safeguarding government personnel, property, and technologies against: unlawful entry, sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage, and destruction.
Duties
Plans and coordinates the activities of three shifts of security guards, through subordinate supervisors, to insure the maintenance of stringent physical security standards.
Support the implementation of installation emergency plans, and the patrolling of restricted and limited access areas.
Periodically inspects personnel for appearance, condition of weapons and equipment, knowledge of duties, and manner of performance.
Develops training courses based on regulatory requirements and supervises necessary training for guard personnel in the use of weapons and protection against espionage.
Performs managerial and administrative duties relating to the security guard force.
Develops manning and budget requirements for Guard operations.
Requirements
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance. IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work.
- This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
- The inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
- You may be required to sign a ‘Drug Test Statement of Understanding’ if you are selected for this position.
- Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.
- Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil actions due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the detention of individuals. Subject to verbal abuse and possible injury or death.
- Incumbent must undergo and pass periodic medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
- Incumbent must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid training.
- Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
- Incumbent will be required to pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
- Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Incumbent must wear prescribed uniform.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty.
- Incumbent must participate in regularly scheduled training in the techniques of use of deadly force, counterterrorism, first aid, firearms, actuating anti-vehicle barriers, search and seizure, security operations and law enforcement.
- Good eye/hand coordination is required to operate radios and police weapons and equipment. Must be in physical condition sufficient to conduct assist in searching and restraining persons.
- Infrequently lifts persons involved in accidents/incidents; uses unarmed combat techniques for self-defense to subdue persons.
- Works both inside and outside with possible exposure to inclement weather.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
