About the Position: This position is under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Directorate, Simulation & Test Range Division.
Duties
Analyzes major features of assigned end items which are critical to the entire system.
Prepares, coordinates and reviews engineering change requests for staffing through appropriate mission agencies pertaining to proposed changes in technical data requirements.
Prepares and releases Computer Aided Design (CAD) master models and associated check prints in accordance with customer technical data
Utilize Siemens (Unigraphics), NX and/or Pro/Engineer CAD software.
Provides formal recommendations for acceptance or rejection of request for waiver or request for deviation.
Participates in initial planning discussions for projects, attends subsequent staff meetings and participates in discussions relating to assignments.
Accomplishes periodic and special ammunition surveillance inspections or tests to determine quality, safety, and condition of a wide variety of ammunition items and components in storage at the plant.
Conducts pre-issue/pre-shipment inspections of ammunition and ammunition items scheduled for shipment to users when determined that additional inspection is required.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition
- Required to sign a DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified Critical Under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program)
- Must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Performs duties which involve the control, accountability, and shipment of arms, ammunition and explosives (AA and E). Incumbent must maintain AA and E Security Certification/Screening IAW AR 190-11
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition

To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which includes: performing assignments for production engineering of weapons systems/components; creating computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting models from established engineering practices and procedures; and studying tech data packages (TDP) pertaining to ammunition and weapon components/items to include in-process and performance testing ammunition end-items. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
