About the Position: This position is located at the Naval Medical Center Office of Dir. of Medicine Immunizations, San Diego, California. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Measure vaccine inventories at all immunization sites throughout the command to include consumption usage, dating and eligible returns. Conduct medical record reviews and other means to determine immunization compliance rates for various patient populations. Track and evaluate equipment associated with the Immunization Program (refrigerators, thermometers, docks, data loggers. cables etc.) Prepare immunizations for patient administration for both adult and pediatric patient populations. Assist Immunization Program Manager in leading immunization training instruction sessions (Courses/In-services) for vaccinators and immunization coordinators.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialize Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes vaccine inventories, wide variety of data collection, medical record reviews, tracking and evaluating equipment and in improving the immunization program in a Military Treatment facility (MTF). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Nursing, Chemistry or Biology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
