This position is located in the Division of Nursing, Emergency Department, Whiteriver Service Unit, Whiteriver, AZ. The primary purpose of this position is to provide case management and clinical coordination for victims of violence presenting primarily to the Emergency Room. Case Management is a process of patient assessment, coordination of care, integration of services, and follow-up and evaluation.
Duties
Develops and maintains iCare patient panels for patients who were victims of violence.
Obtains/monitors result of labs, tests, and scans done at outside facilities and obtains discharge summaries and other medical records from other hospitals on patients.
Works closely with IHS Purchased Referred Care, long term care, AHCCCS, and other insurance or government services personnel. Ensures that victims of sexual violence receiving a medical forensic exam do not receive a bill for services. Works with HIM/Coding to ensure proper diagnoses during ED visits.
The incumbent will perform SANE exams as needed and assist in any forensic care as needed.
Performs a wide range of nursing care for patients in all age groups and their families who present an unlimited range of different health related problems.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education:A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GS-11:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Case management and clinical coordination of victims of violence. Develops and maintains iCare patient panels for patients, performs SANE exams, and assist with forensic care. Prepares patients for test, exams, and treatments, administers prescribed oral medications, hypodermic injections and therapeutic medication. OR
PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
