About the Position: Serve as the personal and confidential assistant to Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army (Protocol Code 4). The Administrative Assistant, an SES position, reports to the Secretary of the Army and is responsive to the senior Army leadership of Headquarters, Department of the Army.
Duties
Responsible for overall office management serving as the element of continuity to ensure that standard procedures support the mission objectives established.
Maintain/order office supplies and equipment to include maintaining inventory of such items.
Assess and identify administrative areas needing further policy guidance or interpretation.
Responsible for administrative actions/matters that are confidential and sensitive.
Gather information, verify facts, summarize or extract data from lengthy reports, and arranges material in appropriate form to facilitate use.
Research relevant laws, regulations and policies and develops appropriate historical information relating to program accomplishments and as necessary, recommend further study and analysis.
Establish, receive, screen, and maintain the schedule of appointments, meetings, conferences, speaking engagements, and other commitments.
Provide advice and guidance to the directors and staff on appropriate procedural policies in the preparation of presentations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of occasionally.

Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which includes 1) Coordinate a wide range of sensitive and/or confidential actions pertaining to all administrative matters. 2) Provide information to staff on executive policy, procedures, and/or scheduling matters. 3) Prepare itineraries and schedule travel arrangements within a senior executive level organization. 4) Establish procedures for meetings, virtual events and coordinates implementation.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
