You will serve as an INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN in the BUMED MTF of NMRTC BREMERTON WA.
THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense.
Duties
You will serve as a senior Industrial Hygiene (IH) Technician at the full performance level of this position.
You will provide Industrial Hygiene support to multiple naval activities of varying complexity and mission.
You will conduct industrial hygiene sampling surveys to collect exposure monitoring data to assess work practices and environmental conditions.
You will serve as the point of contact within the Industrial Hygiene Program Office (IHPO) on IH sampling and monitoring equipment
You will provide technical consultation and equipment training to Industrial Hygiene Program Office personnel.
You will serve as a principal coordinator for workplace monitoring, equipment maintenance and calibration, and inventorying and replenishing consumables programs.
You will manage equipment calibration, preventive maintenance and repair programs within the Industrial Hygiene Program Office
Requirements

Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience using complex Industrial Hygiene instrumentation, gathering and analyzing data and communicating findings to an appropriate Industrial Hygienist
Experience initiating mechanisms and procedures to obtain the required monitoring to establish an exposure monitoring plan
Experience writing equipment calibration procedures, establishing equipment maintenance formats and analyzing equipment use and service life
Experience preparing instructional outlines and providing technical instruction on the use of new and technically advanced industrial hygiene equipment
To qualify for the GS-08 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience performing field measurements using industrial hygiene sampling equipment
Experience documenting violations of occupational safety and health standards observed while conducting industrial hygiene sampling surveys
Experience entering exposure monitoring data into industrial hygiene exposure monitoring data systems, MS Office Suite software (e.g., Word, Excel, and/or Access) or equivalent industrial hygiene database systems
Experience preparing and providing occupational safety and health training

Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree that is directly related to the work of an Industrial Hygiene Technician meets the requirements for GS-9.
