You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHEAST COMPLIANCE & QUALITY DEPT ENVIRONMENTAL DIV of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.
Duties
You will perform environmental protection specialist duties in the implementation of an environmental program involving the management of hazardous materials and other pollution prevention programs
You will plan, coordinate, and implement the collection of environmental data relative to pollution control and hazardous material management.
You will provide assistance or information on pollution abatement, hazardous material, or other environmental matters under the cognizance of the appropriate program manager.
You will develop your assigned program for continuous process improvement under the guidance of senior environmental professionals.
You will team and communicate with command personnel to resolve environmental issues at the lowest level possible and elevate concerns to upper-level management as appropriate.
You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and reportable data as assigned in the Hazardous Materials Management System (HMMS) database.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-09
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conduct inspections of hazardous materials storage areas to ensure compliance; 2) Provide hazardous material management system oversight and training to command personnel; 3) Review processes and methods to minimize the toxicity and amount of waste generated; 4) Assist senior personnel on matters related to hazardous materials management and related environmental programs.
GS-07
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Attend in conducting inspections of hazardous materials storage areas to ensure compliance; 2) Review processes and methods to minimize the toxicity and amount of waste generated; 3) Assist senior personnel on matters related to hazardous materials management and related environmental programs.

Master's or equivalent graduate degree
