Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is located at Naval Station Everett, as a Supervisory Recreation Specialist for Community Recreation.

Duties

Manages and administers a comprehensive and diverse year round recreation program and various recreation facilities that can include but are not limited to Parks and Picnic areas, Tickets & Tours (ITT), Library and Bowling programs, snack bar and supporting command events. Partners and coordinates with the in-house programmers to promote and implement a variety of MWR or Community Recreation programs and activities including base-wide special events. Prepares, justifies, and monitors the execution of the annual NAF and APF operation budget. Reviews financial reports regularly, compares to budget and provides execution explanation for higher level review. Ensures all facilities and activities associated with the program meet established safety, security and sanitation guidelines. Takes timely action to correct deficiencies through coordination with local agencies. Provides administrative duties and supports through daily, weekly and monthly reports, sales and commission reports, after-action reports, data collection and database administration. Performs supervisory duties which include assigning work, defining priorities, selecting and recommending applicants for hire, evaluating performance, recommending pay adjustments/awards, providing or recommending training, approving and/or disapproving leave requests, initiating corrective actions, and recommending formal corrective/disciplinary actions as warranted. Routinely evaluates and reviews ongoing programs and provides activity managers with guidance that may develop, adapt, modify, expand, or otherwise change the program activity to better meet and enhance the expected effectiveness of the programmed activity. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion and maintenance of National Agency (NACI) background check
• Must be able to obtain certifications in First Aid and CPR within the first 90 days on the job
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• . Must be able to obtain a food handler’s, Controlling Alcohol Risk Effectively (CARE).

Qualifications

Knowledge gained through education and training (i.e. Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Marketing, Business or closely related field) and/or equivalent recreation related work experience Combination of experience related to customer service and/or activity based functions Experience in preparing, monitoring, and executing an annual operating budget Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and methods of procedures use in organizing, planning and conducting all types of activities Ability to create, negotiate, implement and sustain partnerships via various MWR agreements Program planning and leadership skills to devise and implement a leisure and social recreation program Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Education
