This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for specified areas of management and administration of J8 and for providing analytical services, staff advice, and assistance to managers and executive personnel concerning operations as they relate to personnel and organizational management as well as personnel security.
Duties
As an ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER at the GS-0341-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Directorate Security Assistant: Implements DoD personnel and physical security polices within Directorate and, when required, develop local policies to supplement Departmental policies.
Staff Action Manager: develops staff packages, proper processing procedures, ensures meeting internal and external suspense's, proper follow-up procedures, and training Directorate Action Officers to perform their responsibilities;
Defense Travel System (DTS): Acts as the Directorate's point of contact (POC) for problems and questions on topics ranging from software use, entitlements, travel policy issues, transaction problems, and payment problems; provides training to new users; assists with maintaining lines of accounting and assigning these lines to correct activities.
Government Travel Card (GTC) Program: Serves as the highest level of technical authority to Directorate members for implementing regulations, policies, and directives related to GTC;
Procedures and Guidance Monitor: Develops updates and maintains Directorate administrative instructions for procedure execution and guidance;
Network Access Manager: Works with new members on paperwork and actions required in order to establish network accounts.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
Providing assistance to managers and executive personnel concerning operations as they relate to personnel and organizational management as well as personnel security;
Managing a staff action processing system in order to provide proper procedures for an entire organization;
Performing a variety of administrative and managerial functions including administration, training coordination, government purchase card and DTS travel system administration for the organization.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
