This position is located at the Fort Yuma Service Unit, Winterhaven, CA. The purpose of the position is to provide advanced dentistry services in accordance with the Indian Health Service policies. The facility is an outpatient clinic, accredited by the AAAHC. The dental clinic provides comprehensive dental services to all ages of patients, working collaboratively as a dental care team, with dental assistants and hygienists. This position will report to the Supervisory Dentist.
Duties
Provides oral and radiographic patient exams, provides necessary dental treatments including oral surgery, restorations and prosthetic dentistry.
Performs periodontal procedures and preventive health to dental patients. Provides oral health education to patients and families.
Completes electronic charting of patients and participates in chart reviews/ peer reviews, along with required trainings thru Service Unit.
Plans and executes community dental health programs for oral disease prevention and patient education.
Participates in chart reviews, peer reviews, and other administrative tasks deemed necessary by the Chief of Dental or Clinical Director.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
Education: Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Medical Requirements: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.
GS-11: Applicants who meet the above basic requirements qualify for the GS-11 grade level.
