Duties

This position is located at the Fort Yuma Service Unit, Winterhaven, CA. The purpose of the position is to provide advanced dentistry services in accordance with the Indian Health Service policies. This position will report to the Chief of Dentist. Provides oral and radiographic patient exams, provides necessary dental treatments including oral surgery, restorations and prosthetic dentistry. Performs periodontal procedures and preventive health to dental patients. Provides oral health education to patients and families. Completes electronic charting of patients and participates in chart reviews/ peer reviews, along with required trainings thru Service Unit. Plans and executes community dental health programs for oral disease prevention and patient education/ Participates in chart reviews, peer reviews, and other administrative tasks deemed necessary by the Chief of Dental or Clinical Director.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirement: Education: Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Medical Requirements: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
