Duties
This position is located in the Network Operations and System Administration Section or the System Support and Security Section of the Trust Fund Branch in the Administration Division of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Serves as a senior expert and advisor to high level management on a wide range of issues related to the protection of sensitive data, security systems and financial management systems, for all Information Security for the Bureau of Prisons’ (BOP) Trust Fund WAN, and the ITS, TRULINCS and Commissary LANs. Plans and manages a comprehensive program of system security services (hardware, software, and physical) that ensure the integrity and security of the Trust Fund Branch financial systems, networks and data. Responsible for planning, administering and customizing networks, servers and computer security systems such as fire walls, intrusion detection and virus scanning software. Evaluates, develops, and provides training to IT professionals and staff at the Central Office, Regional Offices, institutions, and the Management Specialty Training Center to meet both current and future requirements as it relates to IT systems and security. Develops and implements policies, procedures and maintains programs to ensure information system reliability, accessibility and to protect the integrity and confidentiality to prevent unauthorized access to systems, networks and data.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Basic Requirements: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at this grade level. OR Experience: You must have IT related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
AND Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower level in federal government. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Experience with the development, configuration and maintenance of a secure network environment.
Experience with implementing stringent system security controls in accordance with OMB, FISMA, NIST and DOJ policies and mandates.
Experience in the area of System Administration and Database Management across various Operating Systems including Microsoft, RedHat, CentOS, and Linux.
