Duties

You will serve as a first level supervisor over an organizational unit or segment which include nonsupervisory Ship Progressman (General) in the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and IMF, Guam Detachment. You will be responsible for planning, assigning and directing work, training subordinates, initiating personnel request, enforcing disciplinary regulations, and ensuring good house keeping practices on ship repair operations. You will plan the use of subordinate worker's equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis; establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences; and plan work assignments. You will assign work to subordinate employees, provide indirect oversight of trade workers (military personnel) and technical direction and/or assistance in accomplishing the work for direct and indirect employees. You will set performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and formally appraise employees' performance in accordance with (IAW) established guidelines.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

The Screen-out Element for this position is, ABILITY TO SUPERVISE THROUGH SUBORDINATE SUPERVISORS, such as: Prioritizing, and coordinating the various planning and estimating functions in support of the Shipyard's mission related to ship repair operations Providing technical oversight of planning and estimating functions accomplished by the personnel under supervision Prioritizing work assignments of personnel based on schedule completion dates, emergent work, and available resources Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C).
