About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command (T), 93rd Sig BD, Regional NTWK ENT CTR, Business and Plans Division, Business Management Branch, Fort Belvoir, VA 22060.
Duties
Serves as the Regional NEC Security Specialist. Responsible for the implementation of Personnel Security, Information Security, Physical Security, Operations Security (OPSEC), Crime Prevention, Anti-terrorism, and Force Protection.
Administers all security programs in accordance with current laws, regulations, and policies.
Determines physical security requirements for secure areas, vaults, and classified TOP SECRET and SECRET open storage facilities.
Coordinates clearance access rosters; passes clearances for assigned personnel with travel requirements to appropriate Security Manager(s)/Representatives.
Receives requests for security clearances and evaluates the sensitivity classification of the positions which require a security clearance.
As the Crime Prevention Officer, manages the NEC Crime Prevention Program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI) based on an SSBI.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Anti-Terrorism Officer level II certification.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid government driver's license.
- Subject to 2 hour call back for emergency and/or security related issues.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience is defined as experience which includes administering established Information and Personnel security programs; AND performing security investigations and analysis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).
Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
