You will serve as a Lead Firefighter (HAZMAT Technician/BLS) in the Operations Division of NAS CORPUS CHRISTI.
Duties
You will lead a crew of firefighters, including at least one firefighter assigned to man a major piece of motorized firefighting equipment.
You will direct firefighting crew in the operation of firefighting vehicles and equipment.
You will perform structural and aircraft firefighting duties, respond to and mitigate hazardous materials releases, and perform rescue/EMS operations as required.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Detecting fire hazards (potential and immediate) and determining corrective action; 2) Operating firefighting vehicles and equipment in accordance with principles of hydraulics and firefighting techniques; 3) Providing emergency assistance (first aid, HAZMAT, etc.) in accordance with safety standards and regulations; 4) Applying the theory of fire propagation and progression to reduce fire hazards and/or combat fires; 5) Leading a crew of firefighters (i.e. directing drills, assigning work, etc.). NOTE: Experience must be fully supported in your resume to be considered for this position.
**This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, HAZMAT Operations, HAZMAT Technician, and National Registered EMT (NREMT) .These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
**Additionally, per DODI 6055.6-M, Airport Firefighter, Apparatus Driver-Operator for Pumper, Airport Rescue Firefighting (ARFF), and Aerial, must be acquired within one year of appointment.
