Duties
You will perform visual inspections of assigned areas (e.g., buildings, structures, aircraft hangar) for violations of fire codes (e.g., fire hazards, housekeeping, defective wiring).
You will develop and conduct training courses for military personnel, dependents, home care providers, civilian employees, and contractors on fire safety practices and procedures.
You will prepare inspection reports to document findings of fire safety deficiencies.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- Incumbent must be proficient in basic knowledge of English grammar, articulation, spelling, and punctuation as required in the writing of reports and preparation of training classes.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing knowledge of fire safety laws, regulations, codes, standards, and inspection methods to identify hazardous conditions and recommend corrections; 2) Conducting fire prevention, inspection, investigation, and cause determination; 3) Approving or disapproving the issuance of various permits; and 4) Providing fire safety and prevention training to a variety of personnel and individuals.
***This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Awareness, Fire Inspector I and II, and Fire Instructor I. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications, you will be rated ineligible.***
