The incumbent of this position will work a flextime work schedule.
This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.
Duties
The incumbent works under the general supervision of the supervisor of the Transportation Unit. Incumbent frequently receives requests for passenger transportation directly from staff of the Librarian's Office and other members of the Library's Management Team. Because of the nature of the work and particularly the direct requests from offices of the Library's senior managers, incumbent performs the duties of the position with a great deal of independence, exercising judgment initiative in meeting schedules and handling the vehicle safely and economically. Work is only reviewed for adequacy of results and occasional spot checks of the vehicles.
Qualifications
Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license from a local jurisdiction and be knowledgeable of the regulations governing the operation of federally funded vehicles, as well as local traffic safety requirements.
This position requires a Commercial Driver’s License, which requires a DOT medical exam clearance. This position requires a pre-placement physical with a recurrence of 1-2 years (or shorter) to maintain the DOT medical clearance.
Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.
