This position is part of the NNSA - Chief and Associate Administrator for Defense Nuclear Security, Department of Energy. A successful candidate in this position will serve as a Senior Personnel Security Specialist in the Facility and Personnel Clearance Processing Division (NA-74)

As a Personnel Security Specialist, you will:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-02 or GS-12. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Adjudicating background investigations and making security and suitability determinations; utilizing standard operating procedures, manuals, and checklists to evaluate derogatory information to determine appropriate action and resolving moderately difficult issues; and documenting key investigation findings on required forms and corresponding with applicants or employees to provide information and resolve suitability or security issues.
Examples of Specialized Experience:
1. A comprehensive knowledge of advanced theories, techniques, and practices in the field of personnel security, HSPD-12, FOCI, and/or AR sufficient to provide guidance, assistance, and support to others.
2. Skill in developing and writing new policies, approaches, implementing instructions, and standard operating procedures.
3. Knowledge and skill in the application and training of one or more adjudicative guidelines.
4, Ability to develop issue papers and defend recommended actions, utilize effective leadership skills, negotiation techniques, and conflict resolution methods to address and resolve complex problems related to the personnel security program.
5. Knowledge of national guidance applicable to the personnel security program, HSPD-12 program, and/or FOCI program.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
