If so, then the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Secure Transportation, Office of Technical Services (OTS), Safety and Security Division (SSD), Security Branch (SB), has a great opportunity for a Security Specialist. As a Security Specialist, you will effectively support the implementation and oversight of safeguard and security programs ensuring security compliance at multiple geographically facilities.
Duties
Major Duties for this vacancy announcement: As a Security Specialist (Investigator).
Evaluates and advises senior stakeholders on safeguards for the agency program operations to protect the national security information and assets.
Establishes and implements organizational compliance in accordance with the agency directives, regulations, and policies.
Conducts investigations, inspections, surveillances, and surveys while performing technical analysis and performance testing to evaluate security plans, practices, and procedures.
Provides recommendations on security program priorities, risk assessments, and impact on specific sites or security topical areas.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e. NQ-02, NV-Q3, or GS-12. Specialized experience is defined as experience with supporting a security program with responsibilities for ensuring program compliance with security directives, implementing security requirements for fixed site facilities, conducting comprehensive studies, and presenting recommendations for program improvements.
Examples of Specialized Experience:
1. Directing and investigating security compliance with senior stakeholders.
2. Evaluating and safeguarding security programs and operations.
3. Monitoring and protecting classified information, personal facilities, and sensitive material resources.
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
