This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Asst Secretary for Housing-Federal Housing Commissioner.
Duties
As a GRANTS SPECIALIST, you will:
Plan and manage grant administration which is characterized by such features as 1) grant reviews, 2) developing strategies to determine and eliminate improper subsidy payments, 3) evaluating the effectiveness of information technology systems, 4) implementing new policy or guidance, and 5) defining and instituting new methods and strategies to improve grant administration in the office.
Be a liaison with appropriate HUD headquarters staff as it relates to grant management. Through coordination with Multifamily Housing staff, monitors the goals of Housing grant programs.
Participate in intra- and cross-functional teams involving grant program issues and assists in providing training and technical assistance. Perform role of facilitator and provide technical information in response to staff and customer inquiries.
Promote and maintain cooperative working relationships with other Federal agencies and state and local agencies as they relate to grant programs.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Administering grants related to affordable housing programs; OR
- Assisting in implementing new policy or guidance for grant administration; OR
- Working with management and field staff to resolve grant issues.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12 you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
