The incumbent in this position serves as the Executive Assistant to the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS), Deputy Chief Information Officers (DCIO) and Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
This vacancy will close on the posted closing date at 11:59 p.m. ET. or on the 3rd day after opening if 75 applications have been received, whichever comes first.
Duties
Major Duties Include:
Performs special studies and analyses for the Executive Leadership cutting across all activities of the organization and prepares reports of findings for briefings by the assigned senior leaders.
Reviews, analyzes proposals and recommends action to Executive Leaders for implementation.
Maintains a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of operational procedures used throughout VA and OIT; knows the status of key situations or problems at any given time.
Assists senior executives in finding means and methods for resolving problems which cut across organizational lines or are difficult to define.
Participates with the Senior Leadership in the role of key advisor in the decision-making process on a wide variety of programmatic matters, excluding personnel related matters.
Performs special studies and analyses for the PDAS, DCIO and DAS cutting across all activities of OIT and prepares reports of findings for briefings by the assigned SES for top officials.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/19/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-14 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-13. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-13) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: demonstrated experience in applying complex fact-finding, analytical and problem-solving method and techniques to identify interrelated program problems, draw conclusions, and recommend appropriate action or solutions to improve program efficiency and effectiveness; performing studies and analyses for executive leadership; preparing reports of findings and delivering briefings.
