You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist (Aircraft) in the Voyage Repair Team (VRT) of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will conduct Quality Assurance (QA) program monitoring and inspection duties, on
assigned Aircraft Platform Interface (API) systems/equipment.
You will verify quality of materials and supplies required to support Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) and Support Equipment (SE) production and prototype activities.
You will maintain records, reports of deficiencies, and prepare technical reports.
You will conduct audits of products and processes for conformance to specifications and to detect processing and technical documentation deficiencies.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
Qualifications
For the GS-09 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying practical knowledge in monitoring, controlling, or maintaining the quality of products or services in quality assurance, procurement, inspection, production, or related areas relevant to Aircraft Launch & Recovery Equipment (ALRE); 2) Reviewing production activities and capabilities in light of contract quality requirements; 3) Reviewing written quality or inspection procedures for adequacy and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of quality/inspection systems, including sampling plans; and 4) Computing data, summarizing results, and preparing reports or charts depicting pertinent relationships using statistical methods.
For the GS-07 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying Quality Assurance procedures, standardized rules, and techniques associated with the implementation of the Quality Assurance programs; 2) Utilizing rework procedures, documentation and technical specifications relative to the rework of aircraft, engines, components, accessories and/or associated logs and records; and 3) Assisting in evaluating and/or publishing a variety of Quality data generated within and external to Quality Competency such as Discrepancy Work Orders, Quality Deficiency Reports (QDR), Quality Audit Reports, etc.

Education
Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:
For the GS-09 level: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position.
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position.
OR
Obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.
For the GS-07 level: Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position.
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
