This position is located at Departmental Offices,Domestic Finance - Financial Institutions. As a/an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will be responsible for providing leadership and expert cyber security technical advice on developing and implementing policies, programs, and procedures to ensure the security and reliability of information systems throughout the financial services sector.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Conducts systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews.
Provides assistance and advice on the design, development, and implementation of information security policies, procedures, and standards.
Analyzes findings and makes recommendations for security systems that minimize risks, mitigate vulnerabilities, prevent security incidents, and insure systems reliability.
Evaluates the effectiveness of existing programs. Identifies new processes, techniques, and procedures to upgrade and enhance security protocols.
Participates on project teams to implement systems security programs and to integrate IT security with other disciplines.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-7, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience supporting IT users in a fully automated environment.
Examples of such experience could include:
- Working as a member of an IT team with IT security applications.
- Participating in a project implementing a new business process or IT system.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, studies or plans.
OR
EDUCATION: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: One full year of graduate level education in a related field; or Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); or grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society. (Attach copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit).
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed
below.

Education
