The Lead Financial Administrative Specialist is positioned in the Mid-Atlantic Consolidated Patient Account Center (MACPAC) located in Asheville, NC. Serves as a Lead in the Accounts Management department and reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the organization. The CPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to enhance revenue operations throughout the VHA network by standardization, consolidation of functions and the integration of VHA and industry best practices.
Duties
Ensures that the CPAC's strategic plan, goals and objectives are communicated to team members.
Coaching team members in selecting and applying appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques.
Provides advice on work methods, practices, and procedures, and assisting them in identifying viable solutions.
Leads team members in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks in accordance with established workflow.
Makes adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned tasks.
Ensures that each employee has an integral role in developing the final team product.
Trains or arranging for the training of team members in methods and techniques of team building and working in teams to accomplish tasks.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Compressed/Flexible: May be available, pending organizational needs

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/22/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
1) Communicates assignments to team members to include deadlines and time frames for completion
2) Leads team members in identifying tasks in accordance with established workflow.
3) Pursues insurance companies and third party payers to expedite collections
4) Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions.
5) Participates in organizational strategies to identify opportunities to improve customer service.
OR,
Substitution of Education for Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Do you possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work?
OR,
Combination of Education and Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Do you possess Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the Lead Financial Administrative Specialist position, which may be substituted to meet the experience requirements for GS-09 position?

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.
