This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Administration (OA), Human Resources Division (HRD), Personnel and Physical Security Branch (PPSB). OJP's mission is to provide leadership, resources, and solutions for creating safe, just and engaged communities. OA provides building and emergency management, resource provision and multi-media services to OJP offices.
Duties
This position serves as a Personnel Security Specialist located in the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Administration (OA), Human Resources Division (HRD), Personnel and Physical Security Branch (PPSB).
Initiates public trust and national security investigations.
Applies security policy, procedures, systems, and program.
Approves requests for security clearances, evaluating the sensitivity classification of the position by approved need-to know principles and pertinent security guidelines in the absence of the security program managers.
Reviews findings from pre-screening interviews and security appointments for personnel security investigations which are extremely delicate and complex, requiring the use of highly sensitive and complex methods and techniques.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Implementing and/or advising on personnel security programs and operations for adjudicative and national security clearances.
Advising on a wide variety of personnel security matters.
Managing and/or reviewing special investigations for sensitive national security issues requiring resolution or advanced adjudication knowledge.
