This position is located in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Policy Management and Operations, Travel Office, whose mission is to provide responsive, forward-thinking, and insightful policy advice and support to the Secretary of Defense and Department of Defense. The purpose of this position is to provide travel advice, guidance, and assistance per the Joint Travel Regulations, Government Travel Credit Card Regulations and the Federal Management Regulations.
Duties
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:
Acts as a subject matter expert, responsible for the overall management and application of the Defense Travel System (DTS), providing travel guidance and consultative services.
Resolves systematic issues and problems involved in the fielding process, software installation and connectivity, establishment of organizations, groups, routing list, and setup of user files.
Oversees the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) program, researching and preparing monthly reports to be presented to management.
Assigns and monitors roles and permission levels of the other assigned Defense Travel Administrator (DTA) team members within the organization.
Initiates and conducts studies into policy matters related to travel entitlements and disbursing and provides guidance and problem resolution to policy employees concerning all travel authorizations and reimbursement matters.

Qualifications
Time in Grade: Status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as applying knowledge of travel/transportation policies, procedures or entitlements in order to resolve Defense Travel System issues; identifying and documenting Defense Travel System requirements or enhancements; and providing travel policy or procedural support to internal and external customers.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position.
