You will serve as a Supervisory Contract Specialist within NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.
Duties
You will serve as the senior contract negotiator in the Department and participate in problem negotiations for major acquisitions.
You will be responsible for the planning, control, direction, and evaluation of acquisition programs of several Divisions within the assigned Department.
You will advise on acquisition matters relating to accounting, economics, and business law.
You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, prepare schedules for completion of work, and assign work to subordinates based on priorities.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience imust demonstrate: 1) Applying knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation, supplements, policies, and principles sufficient to plan, analyze, or evaluate a wide variety of contracting issues; 2) Performing leadership functions such as managing a diverse workload and coordinating personnel resources to achieve Command objectives; 3) Creating and applying new developments and approaches to resolve complex problems; 4) Utilizing a wide range of contracting methods/contract types in order to plan, establish, negotiate, administer, and evaluate contracts to satisfy procurement requirements for equipment/programs at different stages in the acquisition lifecycle; and 5) Conducting periodic studies and making recommendations to senior management to improve contract techniques and administrative and production lead-times.

Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Education Requirement of the Department of Defense Qualification Standard for Contracting Positions:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees.
NOTE: The education requirement listed above applies only to individuals entering DoD GS-1102 positions on or after October 1, 2000. Current civilian personnel in DoD who occupied GS-1102 positions or contracting positions with authority to award or administer contracts above the simplified acquisition threshold in an Executive Department on or before September 30, 2000 are exempt from meeting this requirement. Current military members who occupied a similar occupational specialty to the GS (or equivalent) 1102 or before September 30, 2000 are also exempt from meeting this requirement.
