This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located at the DIRECTORATE OF INDUSTRIAL OPERATIONS Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Duties
Make preliminary inspections of electronic sub assemblies.
Use test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and meggers to perform the work processes.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and/or diagrams.
Determine feasibility of economical repair, repairs needed, or parts to be replaced.
Visually inspect items to be rebuilt and/or modified.
Repair or replace defective components such as transformers, switches, and relays.
Prepare reports of malfunctions and determine type and amount of material needed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be willing to undergo pre- employment and annual physicals.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be willing to complete one year trial period.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain IPC Solder and J-Standard license.
Qualifications
This is a term position not to exceed 13 months. Term positions may be extended up to a maximum of 6 years, and MAY NOT be converted to permanent.
Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronics Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I can assist with repairs, replacing and testing electronic components and subassembly parts. I can work on electronic items such as circuit elements and voltmeters according to manuals/work orders, and read blueprints. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work is performed in a standing or setting position. Usually handles items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is done in well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Exposed to cuts, bruises, scratches and the possibility of burns from electrical shock.
