The Program Support Assistant provides administrative and programmatic support in the Research Service of the Boise VA Medical Center.
Duties
The position provides all staff support to the various R&D committees which are responsible through the Chief of Staff and the Director of VBAMC for maintaining high standards throughout the research program.
Responsible for performing all R&D support activities in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, ethical standards, and accreditation requirements
Provides critical administrative support to the Research Office including timekeeping, purchasing support, records management, training tracking, and human resources support, requiring strong aptitude with multiple computer based tools and tracking system.
Independently reviewing for completeness research proposal submissions from principal investigators, serving as the initial point of contact for investigators and advising them on the requirements for proposal submissions and guidance on completing mandatory forms and supporting documents, training and assisting investigators with the mandatory submission software and processing the timely review of proposals by primary reviewers.
Performs work related to the development and support of the policy development, SOP and procedures development, and/or technical activities of the BVAMC Research Office.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am - 4:30pm

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work, however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications

GS-6 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Requests, receives and files study documents maintained in a complete organized in a complete set of electronic study folders; Skilled use of Microsoft computer programs to include, Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint to prepare fiscal documents, administrative memos and reports; Drafts committee agendas, minutes, study action memos, and emails and routes documents for signatures; Experience working with bills of collection an processes through different systems. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month & year starting and ending dates AND hours worked per week.

Specialized experience includes: Requests, receives and files study documents maintained in a complete organized in a complete set of electronic study folders; Skilled use of Microsoft computer programs to include, Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint to prepare fiscal documents, administrative memos and reports; Drafts committee agendas, minutes, study action memos, and emails and routes documents for signatures; Prepares bills of collection an processes through different systems, working with accountant and fiscal team. Receives and responds to communications regarding research studies, research applications and approvals and research compliance; NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month & year starting and ending dates AND hours worked per week.
