This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Navajo Region in Gallup, New Mexico.
The incumbent works with the Navajo Region Division of Transportation administration staff to assists the Regional Transportation Engineer in carrying out the administrative functions and responsibilities of the Regional Transportation Engineer's office.

Duties
Responsible for providing general office, clerical, and administrative assistance and support to ensure the effective operation of the Navajo Region, Department of Transportation.
Serves as the primary records contact for the Branch and is responsible for the development and maintenance of proper filing and records management systems.
Maintains files to keep track of expiration or due dates and ensures proper follow-up by supervisor or appropriate staff.
Serves as the receiving agent for the Branch. Receives and Inspects shipments and completes and submits proper receiving reports.
Maintains account ledgers, tracks obligations, payments, accounts receivables, reconciles accounts and is responsible for the maintenance of budgets, requisitions, orders, and financial records.
Compiles a valid Invoice and all the appropriate support documents to ensure complete voucher packages are submitted for payment.
Maintains a government issued charge card and is the holder of a travel and purchase card for the Branch and maintains all appropriate supporting documents for use of the purchase and travel card.
Prepares requisitions and appropriate procurement documents to order office supplies, purchase equipment, training courses, etc.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Program Support Assistant GS-0303.)
GS-6: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service which involved using independent judgment, as well as work requiring extensive knowledge and application of regulatory requirements, such as providing program and administrative support; operating office automation equipment in the preparation of a variety of reports, letters, memorandums, transmittals, etc.; receiving visitors and ascertaining the nature of their business; provides guidance on records management and maintenance, furnishing statistical, general, or specific information; ordering supplies and equipment as needed for administrative offices, assist with budget performance and finance management, assist Custodial Property Officer maintaining records of all property; reviewing time sheets to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations; processing obligation documents (travel, purchase orders, amendments, etc. ); reviewing journal vouchers for fund payments ensuring funds are paid to the proper owners in the correct amounts.
