You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will determine optimal layout of material and develop a Warehouse Plan for effective utilization of spaces. You will coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials with docking area and scheduling personnel to facilitate movement of materials in accordance with priorities, scheduling requirements and space allocations. You will safely operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, or other material handling equipment to gather items for shipment. You will properly handle , safeguard and store hazardous material.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • A current Forklift Operator License (certification) based on the particular lift trucks that operators use in the workplace is required within 6 months of hire.

Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Operating material handling equipment (MHE)/fork lifts capable of lifting loads weighing 4,500 kilograms (10,000 pounds) or more to move material; 2) Entering, modifying, and retrieving information from electronic records, supply systems and reports; 3) Composing forms relating to stock description and condition, quantity, and unit of issue; 4) Following specialized handling and storage procedures as required by regulatory and safety requirements **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
