You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER SUPERVISOR I in the NUCLEAR MATERIAL DIVISION (CODE 2305), NUCLEAR ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will plan, schedule, and coordinate receipt, custody, and issue of all materials within one or more worksites/warehouses. You will develop warehousing plans to accommodate materials received/issued dependent on storage requirements and spaces available. You will develop and implement Nuclear Material Control Branch policies and procedures and monitor the compliance to those policies and procedures. You will identify and resolve problem areas and initiate improved material storage and control methods. You will insure adequate stock of materials and excess stocks are redistributed or disposed of in accordance with established procedures. You will assign or reassign personnel within area-of-responsibility to meet changing workloads. You will advise subordinates as to the proper procedures to be followed in situations involving special handling, storage, issue, and transfer of Nuclear materials.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
