Duties

Develop and formulate a major segment of a budget request for the coming fiscal year. Perform in-depth analysis of budget requests and explore alternative methods of funding. Monitor the use and rate of expenditure of budget funds. Determine the propriety and cost effectiveness of funding requests.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires you to possess or obtain and maintain the DoD Financial Management Certification, Certificate Level 2, within two years of hire date.

Specialized Experience: Your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. One year of specialized experience which includes developing an operating budget for an organization and overseeing and/or tracking budgetary obligations for an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Financial Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementBudget AdministrationBudget ExecutionBudget Formulation, Justification, and Presentation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
