You will serve as a GENERAL BUSINESS & INDUSTRIAL SPEC (SHIPBUILDING SPECIALIST) in the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, Gulf Coast of SUPSHIP GULF COAST. You will assist with procurement and administration of contracts for the conversion and repair of U.S. Naval ships and vessels and the administration of NAVSEA new construction contracts for Naval ships and vessels.

GS-12: $86,962 - $113,047
Duties
You will develop, review, and negotiate modifications to original specifications and new work specifications for work to be accomplished by the contractor.
You will prepare written detailed discrepancy reports of instances of failure of the contractor's quality assurance/inspection processes.
You will provide data/recommendations to the Quality Assurance Office for contractor performance evaluations (CPE) on all contracts administered.
You will witness and accept or reject tests of ship's machinery, propulsion systems, piping, HM and E, combat systems, contractor's test equipment and other complex systems to contract quality standards.
You will participate in Design Reviews to ensure that productivity and maintainability are considered in developing the design approach as well as in the detailed drawings for implementing the design.
You will serve as the first level of reference for resolution of all matters pertaining to manufacturing and repair processes on the ship under contract.
You will prepare ship repair or progress status reports consisting of controlling jobs completion percentage, material and manning problems, contractual data, milestone review and any other information that may affect the contractual milestones.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
Qualifications
FOR GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning and executing evaluations or surveillance of shipbuilding or ship repair contracts to determine and assure conformance of products and services to contractual and specification requirements.
OR
FOR GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating and monitoring shipbuilding or ship repair contracts to assure conformance of products and services to contractual and specification requirements.
