You will serve as a Financial Technician in the Comptroller Department (N8) of NAVY RESERVE REGION READINESS AND MOBILIZATION COMPONENT COMMAND

Duties

You will examine, verify, maintain, and reconcile accounts and accounting data. You will prepare and analyze financial reports. You will perform duties which support budget analysis and administration including, but not limited to, maintaining ledgers, compiling information for budget formulation, as well as consolidating, checking, and arranging funding data.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Financial Management Level I certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience using accounting systems, policies, and procedures to examine, verify and maintain and reconcile accounts and accounting data, prepare and analyze reports. Experience working in support of receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit and custody of cash items which includes handling cash items or use of cash accountability control methods. Experience examining documents for accuracy, adequacy of documentation, compliance with regulations for goods and services. Experience performing technician work in support of budget analysis and administration such as maintaining ledgers, budget formulation compiling, consolidating, checking, and arranging funding data.
