About the Position: This position is located at the Defense Health Agency -San Diego, CA Directorate of Resource Mangement Budget. This position serves as a Financial Technician in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), responsible fortechnical support of accounting, budget, and other related financial management work.

Duties

The incumbent reviews, evaluates, and verifies a range of accounting transactions to determine the adequacy of the system and resolve accounting transaction problems. Perform technical work in support of the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit and custody of cash items which includes handling cash items or use of cash accountability control methods. Review and determine pay, payroll records maintenance and completion of reports pertaining to civilian employees of the Federal Government. Establish, maintain, correct and close pay accounts for active, reserve, or retired armed forces personnel and their annuitants. Performs technician work in support of budget analysis and administration such as maintain ledgers, budget formulation, compiling, consolidating, checking and arranging funding data.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position may require business travel 5% of the time.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This is a FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 1 Certified position designated. Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget AdministrationFinancial AnalysisFinancial Management Systems Time in Grade Requirement for GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Time in Grade Requirement for GS-08: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
