This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Performance Planning and CFO with the Accounts Payable Team in Denver, CO. The incumbent studies the operating program and applies analytical and evaluation methods related to administrative accounting and fiscal examination functions.
Duties
Applies knowledge of financial concepts and procedures; continually monitors financial data, procedures, and controls to preclude violation of regulations; develops new or revised methods to improve accuracy and accountability.
Determines the need for account reviews based on regulatory requirements, trend analysis, and historical account activity; implements procedures that provide adequate internal controls that prevent over reporting of disbursements and in transit balances.
Reviews and troubleshoots financial procedures, policies, systems, interfacing processes and automation processes that impact financial reporting of information; determines deficiencies in procedures and systems and participate in resolving problems to ensure regulatory compliance and accurate financial data.
Provides customer service to internal and external customers.

Qualifications
For the GS-11:
Experience: One year of specialized, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector:
(1) Enhancing automated financial systems; and
(2) Developing internal controls for financial data compliance; and
(3) Correcting noncompliant accounts payable documents; and
(4) Verifying accuracy and completeness of data input; and
(5) Providing customer service to internal/external customers.

OR
Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Transcripts (official or unofficial must be submitted. If selected, official transcripts will be required.
OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of related graduate education and specialized experience as specified above. For example, an applicant who has 1.5 full years of Ph.D. level education (i.e. 50% of education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position. Transcripts (official or unofficial must be submitted. If selected, official transcripts will be required.
