This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is within the Cable/Harness Branch of the Directorate of Industrial Operations located at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA.
Duties
Calibrate complex air defense missile system electronic components by employing precise electronic principles and theory.
Operate various precision measuring devices such as spectrum analyzers, sweep and pulse generators, oscilloscopes, precision gauges, etc.
Diagnose malfunctions in complex interrelated circuits.
Perform soldering per current specifications.
Analyze system assemblies by tracing signal paths on schematics through complex connections.
Develop procedural changes for processes such as repair, maintenance, alignment, testing, etc.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Must be willing to travel on Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be willing to undergo a physical examination initially, and annually thereafter.
- Must complete a one-year trial period.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain Soldering certification within a suitable time frame.
- Must be willing to accept a Term position which is scheduled to last no longer than 13 months.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform common Electronic Mechanic duties, such as: diagnosing malfunctions in complex interrelated circuits, and calibrating complex electronic components by employing precise electronic principles and theory. Operating various precision measuring devices such as spectrum analyzers, sweep and pulse generators, oscilloscopes, precision gauges, etc. Analyzing system assemblies by tracing signal paths on the schematic through complex connections; developing procedural changes for processes such as repair, maintenance, alignment and testing; and performing soldering per current specifications. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Work involves standing, bending, stooping, and protracted periods at test consoles. Continuously handles objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is normally in well lighted, heated and ventilated shop area. Subject to cuts, bruises, burns, and shock caused by handling equipment, soldering irons, high voltage energy, radiation, etc.
