You will serve as an Engineer in the Missions Systems Group, Avionics Engineering Department, Avionics Systems Engineering Division, Advanced Architecture Branch of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Duties

You will be the Advanced Systems Lead Engineer for E-6B NC3 Aircraft. You will manage the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) development portfolio. You will provide input on potential risk and schedule challenges related to Avionics systems design/requirements/capabilities/integration. You will ensure consistency between design/requirements/capabilities, lead working groups for mission system modifications, and coordinate with NAVAIR, NAVWAR, NEC, and US Air Force stakeholders. You will provide feedback to Mission systems, Air Systems, and Systems Engineering on Capability integration status. You will oversee assessments of ongoing E-6B NC3 oversight and certifications, on advanced systems interfaces and coordinate across internal Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and with external agencies.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12/13 grade level or pay band DP-04 in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a. Professional General Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineer, and/or an Electronics Engineer. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Develop and execute systems engineering processes and functions, provide engineering oversight of capability development and modernization efforts related to critical NC3 communications systems to meet emerging capability needs, lead modernization and interoperability efforts with PMW-770 and USAF Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) on shared systems, and ensure E-6B Mercury will continue to meet stringent nuclear survivability requirements; 2) Support technical efforts for both the E-6B Mercury and E-XX TACAMO Recapitalization program by taking the lead for ongoing E-6B NC3 Oversight and Certifications and Systems Integration support on Block 2 systems of systems integration and modification; 3) Provide oversight of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), Science & Technology, and Advanced Systems development efforts; 4) Configuration and certification management of mission systems configurations across multiple capability baselines; 5) Lead frequent engagements with Senior NAVAIR, NAVWAR, and NEC; 6) Coordinate with the US Air Force, NAVWAR, and vendors on development production, integration, and delivery of key mission communications systems, E-6B Nuclear Survivability requirements and assessments and Integration Control Working Group for NC3 mission system modifications; 7) Coordinate with NC3 Enterprise Center, STRATCOM Wing 1, OPNAV, NAVWAR, AFGSC on shared interest items; 8) Provide oversight of E-6B inclusion of NC3 Enterprise MBSE efforts; 9) Mentor System Engineers; 10) Manage risk working groups. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
