About the position: This position will be assigned to the Falcon Club Dining Room at Air Force Academy, Colorado.

Duties
Performs the following duties as a Waiter Leader:
Passes on to approximately 4-7 Waiters, NA-01 and NA-03, and 3-7 Food Service Worker, NA-01, instructions received from the caterer and gets the work started by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led.
Works along with other workers and sets the pace.
Demonstrates proper working methods.
Sees to it that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
Obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems and unusual circumstances that arise.
Maintains a current knowledge and answers questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives.
Sees to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in the work crew busy.
Checks work while in progress and when finished to see whether the supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met.
Urges or advises other workers to follow instructions received from supervisors to meet deadlines.
Assures that safety, sanitation and housekeeping rules are followed.
Reports to supervisor on the status and progress of work and causes of work delays.
Answers questions of the supervisor on overall work operations and problems.
Performs the following duties as a Waiter:
Discusses menu with supervisor and familiarizes self with menu.
Secures clean linen and appropriate silverware, depending on the particular menu and food to be served.
Sets assigned tables, spreading clean linens and placing glasses, condiment holders, flowers, candles or lamps and silverware on table.
Prepares side tables with silverware, bowls of ice and other extras which may be required during the course of the meal.
Receives guests and takes orders. Writes guests orders, answers questions or makes suggestions regarding food and beverages or various dishes and beverages.
Works according to rigid time schedules.
Brings food from kitchen and places dishes in front of each person.
Continues to provide service as needed and requested by guests.
Following completion of meals gives checks to guests who pay cashier, waiter/waitress or elect to sign dining room guest check when authorized.
Acts as breakfast cashier for normal operations.
Removes soiled dishes, glasses and silverware or requests Food Service Worker to do so.
May perform cleaning duties as time permits, such as sweeping, mopping and so forth in assigned area or cleaning entry ways.
May perform janitorial, dishwashing or other functions in an emergency.
Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires the incumbent to meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for serving alcoholic beverages.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain a Food handler’s Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a pre-employment physical.
- This position requires the incumbent to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- This position is subject to an uncommon tour of duty.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience or training which provides knowledge of proper food handling and food serving techniques.
Knowledge of food menu items and wine selection for various foods sufficient to explain to customer.
Must be able to follow cash handling procedures, make simple mathematical computations, and prepare checks for patrons.
The applicant must have experience which demonstrates the ability to explain or demonstrate how to do work, to follow oral and /or written instructions, to determine tools, material and personnel required to perform tasks, to evaluate work being performed, to identify problems and obtain required information/decisions from supervisor and to communicate with co-workers and supervisor.
Applicant must be able to stand, stoop, bend and walk for long periods of time.
A Local Files Check (LFC) and National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) are required.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
