Duties

- Performs first level supervisory personnel management responsibilities. - Performs duties of a Waiter. - Operates, maintains, and cleans tools, equipment, and work area. - Performs stockroom attendant duties or other related duties. - Observe and adheres to safety and sanitation rules and regulations while on duty.

  • May be required to work rotating shifts or uncommon tours of duty
  • The work will require employees to wear appropriate uniforms and safety and sanitation equipment and clothing
  • Will be required to attend all mandatory training and meetings
  • Occasionally performs second level supervisory duties in the absence of the supervisor in an emergency or other short-term time frame.
  • If these duties are performed for more than 30 calendar days, detail/temporary promotion will be documented appropriately
  • Employee detailed to other areas, and or duties as mission requires. If detailed to a position that requires licensure, must have or be able to obtain license(s).
  • This is a Mission Essential position performing a Mission Critical Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-7400, Food Preparations and Serving Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to supervise. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Ability to meet the public and tactfully explain/enforce the rules governing cadet guests at meal formations. Ability to supervise and direct personnel in a common goal. 2. Knowledge of basic nutritional standards to include answering cadet dietary questions pertaining to meals being served. Knowledge of types of food and quantity to be served to cadets on modified diets such as weight gain or loss, EXCEL, soft diet, etc. 3. Basic knowledge of health, food service safety, and sanitation procedures and housekeeping practices. Knowledge of various types of dining service to include family style, formal buffet, and formal dining plate service??????? 4. Skill in doing tasks with several steps using judgement in a sequence of tasks. 5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using tact and diplomacy in include reading and understanding signs, names of food items, and instructions. 6. Skill in operating, breaking down, and cleaning waiter and sanitation equipment. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Heavy lifting (45-79 lbs.); moderate carrying (15-44 lbs.); straight pulling (1/2 hr); pushing (1 hr); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (2 hrs); standing (2 hrs); kneeling (1 hr); repeated bending 1 ½ hr); climbing, legs only (1/2 hr); both legs required; and ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. WORKING CONDITIONS: Excessive noise, intermittent; constant noise; solvents (degreasing agents); slippery or uneven walking surface; working around machinery with moving parts; working around moving objects; working with hands in water. (Work areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. Subject to minor cuts, bruises, burns, and scalds. There is danger of slipping on floors which are wet from daily mopping or where food or beverages have been dropped. Occasionally subjected to extreme temperatures when required to go from work area to walk-in refrigerator.
