You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Radio, Sonar and Antenna Systems Branch (274) Engineering Division, Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will serve as a technical working leader and assign the most complex and significant engineering projects within the scope of the branch responsibility. You will direct and coordinate the efforts of assigned personnel. You will provide technical guidance for preparation of lists on drawings required to execute complex projects. You will coordinate the efforts of assigned personnel to ensure schedule dates are met. You will provide technical guidance for and prepare procedures for conducting tests on various electrical equipment and systems. You will prepare specifications and provide direction for the procurement of special material and services associated with projects.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying professional knowledge of Electrical/Electronics Engineering concepts and principles. Experience evaluating and applying the latest developments and techniques in solving problems not readily treatable by traditional or accepted methods. Experience providing engineering design support. Experience applying knowledge of engineering aspects unique to nuclear powered aircraft carriers. Experience applying knowledge of related fields including mechanical and structural to a degree which permits technical understanding, communication, and cooperation in areas of work interface with personnel of other engineering disciplines.
